Laser engraving is the technology allowing to use of laser radiation for engraving images on the material. The laser engraving technology is distinguished by a sufficiently high image reproduction accuracy due to absence of contact with the processed material, and components, which are subject to wear.

Laser engraving technology

The point, at which the laser beam contacts with the material surface, producing a significant local heating (usually short-term), resulting in physical changes of the properties of the surface of the material in case of laser marking or the evaporation of the upper layer of the material in the case of laser engraving.

Since during laser engraving occur processes of evaporation, the removal of the evaporation products from the processed area, normally by means of an industrial exhaust system, is the prerequisite for the industrial use of this technology.

One of the peculiarities of laser engraving is the possibility of effective integration of laser systems into production lines. This solution is widely used for engraving of dates, barcodes or logos on batch products.
